Md. Hasanul Banna Siam is a budding researcher who has majored in Microbiology at the University of Dhaka. Currently, he is working as a research assistant at the department of Emerging and Neglected Diseases (END) in the Biomedical Research Foundation (BRF).Under BRF, Siam has had first-hand experience in public health research dealing with Chikungunya, Dengue, COVID-19, as well as thalassemia and environmental issues. He has grown keen interests in molecular epidemiology, immunopathology, virology, antibiotic resistance, and microbiome.

Previously, he has conducted computational biology research at the Microbial Genomics and Bioinformatics Laboratory in Dhaka University on extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Pseudomonas aeruginosa. As part of his study, he has identified three chemical compounds as potent inhibitors of biofilm formation. He has also contributed to studies regarding antibiotic resistance among university students.

Apart from research, Siam has also worked as a professional writer in HiFi Public and other online portals. In 2018, he played a leading role in arranging the BRF Science Communication competition. He was a co-founder and public relations secretary of the American Society for Microbiology Student Chapter of University of Dhaka (ASM-DU). Currently, he also serves as the sub-editor of BRF Health Briefings.
